 All-Suite Hotel Chain Comparison Tables

All-suite hotels differ from extended stay hotels and apartment hotels by the absence of a full kitchen. In addition, suite hotels often do not offer extended stay discounts, though this is changing. There are currently 17 chains (mostly in North America) with at least 7 hotels. Each all-suite chain is covered in our reviews.

There are important differences among suite hotel chains. They differ with respect to the Types of Rooms & room features, Services & Policies, and Amenities (including complimentary food service).

The lists below are in descending order, approximately, according to typical room rate. There is usually a high correlation between price and quality, but not always. Also, keep in mind that rates vary significantly based on location. Hotels are most expensive in the northeastern US and California, and in downtown locations of large cities.
 
 
Surveyed Chains Overviews & Comments

Marriott Suites		 14 full-service hotels located in major US metro areas. Marriott has upgraded the bedding in all hotels to include down comforters inside duvets (freshly laundered for each new guest), and 300-thread-count sheets. All Marriott Suites are 100% non-smoking.

Hilton Suites		 11 full-service hotels located in major US metro areas. Suites feature new custom alarm clocks with an MP3 jack.

Sheraton Suites		 21 full-service hotels in the US and Calgary. Suites feature Sheraton's Sweet Sleeper Bed. All Sheraton Suites are 100% non-smoking.

Embassy Suites		 Created in 1983, Hilton's Embassy Suites was a pioneer in the all-suite concept and today has over 190 locations in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Suites feature new custom alarm clocks with an MP3 jack. Hotels usually feature a large atrium where breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres are served. 4 Embassy Vacation Resorts in Hawaii, California & Florida offer time-share one, two & three-bedroom vacation villas. (Unlike the other hotels, there is no complimentary breakfast or evening reception at these resorts.)

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton		 Chain with 32 hotels in major US metro areas. Suites feature new custom alarm clocks with an MP3 jack. Fresh baked cookies are served each evening.

Ayres 		15 Southern California boutique hotels, concentrated in Orange County & Riverside County

Cambria Suites		 The first Cambria Suites hotel opened in 2007 in Boise. Since then, Choice Hotels has rolled out an additional 20 stylish properties across the US. All are newly built. In addition to 1-bedroom (partially divided) suites, there are also 2-bedroom suites. All Cambria Suites are 100% non-smoking.

Hyatt Place		 More than 150 Hyatt Place hotels are located throughout the US. All are 100% smoke-free. The chain began with the purchase of AmeriSuites by Hyatt in 2005. Hotels are wrapping up their conversion to "Hyatt Place" and offer upgraded amenities, such as 42" plasma TVs. There are also many newly built properties.

SpringHill Suites		 Marriott's mid-range suite hotel chain has over 200 locations throughout the US, including Anchorage Alaska, plus Montreal. All SpringHill Suites are 100% non-smoking.

Suite Novotel		 Accor's all-suites chain was launched in 1999 (as Suitehotel). Its 29 hotels are in France, Germany, Malaga Spain, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Marrakech Morroco and Dubai. Rooms are "customizeable", and feature a slideable partition for creating 2 separate rooms. TVs can easily be moved to permit viewing from anywhere in the suite, including the bathroom. Bathrooms have separate tubs and showers. At many locations, a free Smart car loan is offered with extended stays of 4 days or longer.

Clarion Suites		 8 hotels located in the US, including Anchorage Alaska

Oxford Suites 		14 hotels in Oregon, Washington state & California

Comfort Suites		 More than 400 hotels in the US, Canada & Brazil. All Comfort Suites are 100% nonsmoking.

Phoenix Inn Suites 		8 hotels in Oregon, and 2 in Washington state. Fresh baked cookies are served each evening.

Quality Suites		 27 hotels throughout the US, Canada & Brazil

InnSuites 		Affiliated with Best Western, its 12 hotels are in the southwestern US.

Travelodge Suites 		Wyndham's budget chain with 9 hotels in the US & Edmonton
