A new partnership between French pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis and Stanford University's Bio-X program has been established to improve interdisciplinary research in the field of bioscience, according to Zenopa.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two organizations will contribute members and money to a joint steering committee. Each year, this committee will fund five different study projects that display innovation and a multidisciplinary approach.
In addition, Sanofi-Aventis will reportedly fund a research forum where scientists can gather each year to share their knowledge and perspectives.
"Our approach to research and development must ensure we are at the centre of the most innovative science, whether inside our own walls or through external partnerships," said Dr. Paul Chew, the senior vice president, chief science officer and chief medical officer for Sanofi-Aventis' U.S. branch.
This new partnership is likely to foster a growth in business travel between Paris and Palo Alto, California, and extended stay hotels like the Residence Inn Palo Alto are expected to receive more business from scientists and other professionals working for Sanofi-Aventis or Stanford.
