Red Sox, Business Highlight an Extended Stay in Boston

27 Jul 2010

Boston is known for many things, such as its crucial role in the American Revolution, its educational institutions and its seafood, but in recent years the city has garnered particular attention because of its baseball team, the Red Sox.

The Red Sox are an essential part of the culture of Boston and visitors to the city should be sure to take in a game. Not only is the team an attraction but so is the place where they play their games, Fenway Park. Fenway is the oldest stadium in the Major Leagues and has been hosting baseball games since 1912. The iconic feature of the park is the left field wall that rises more than 30 feet and is called “the Green Monster,” after its size and the color that Fenway is painted.

Visitors to Boston will have an excellent chance to take in a game when the Chicago White Sox visit Fenway to play a three-game series between September 3 and 5. The matchup will pit two of the oldest teams in the American League against each other as they both battle for their respective division titles.

Travelers needn’t worry if baseball isn’t their thing, there is much to do in the city. Those looking for a bit of culture can visit the Museum of Fine Arts or the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. And those hoping to take in Boston’s history can walk the Freedom Trail, a marked path through the city that takes visitors on a tour of the many historic sites in the area.

Boston is not only a great place for vacationers but also an excellent destination for business travelers. The compact, almost cozy nature of the downtown area combined with an excellent public transportation system makes getting to various locations throughout the city a relative breeze. In addition, the city has a top-notch airport in Boston Logan International.

All of these factors and more make the city an ideal place for booking extended stay lodging in Boston for business and leisure travelers alike.

An excellent extended stay hotel in the Boston area is the Residence Inn Boston Cambridge. The rooms at the Residence Inn are at least 50 percent larger than traditional hotel rooms, giving guests more space to relax. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen, which allows travelers to save money by cooking their own meals. For business travelers, there is free high-speed internet and a spacious desk. Rates for the Residence Inn Boston Cambridge start at $289 per night for a weeklong stay in September, but those who stay for more than 30 days will find additional savings as rates for a month long stay are just $159 per night.

Another superb extended stay option in the Boston area is the Candlewood Suites - Burlington. This facility has a recently renovated fitness center and a business center that is sure to meet the needs of guests.

Doug Soule, the general manager of the Candlewood Suites Burlington, says that about 65 percent of guests at the property are business travelers, and such visitors stay for an average of four days.

Soule cites the free guest laundry as one of the motel’s most popular amenities. He also mentions the privacy that Candlewood Suites offers its guests as one of its more popular features. In addition, the Burlington Mall is close by, giving guests a chance to do some serious shopping.

Despite all these wonderful amenities, the most attractive thing about the Candlewood Suites Burlington may be its rates. A weeklong stay in August will set guests back just $79 per night, while a month long stay will only cost $69 for each night.

The wonderful sights, inviting business atmosphere and top-notch extended stay hotels make Boston an easy choice as a destination for travelers of all stripes.
