People Seeking Housing in Long Island Extended Stay Hotels

Thanks to high housing prices in New York, many people live in extended stay hotels on Long Island to save money while they wait for more affordable permanent accommodations to become available, reports the New York Times.

One hotel welcoming these longer-term guests is the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale, a 118-room property that opened two years ago. Each suite at the hotel features a fully equipped kitchen, and guests are able to take advantage of frequent housekeeping services.

Other amenities available to guests at the hotel include free wired and wireless high-speed internet access, a 24-hour fitness center and "In a Pinch," a 24-hour market that sells snacks, drinks, sandwiches and salads.

The hotel's location is convenient for business travelers, as it is situated close to offices for major companies like Arrow Electronics, Estee Lauder, Henry Schein, Napco, OSI Pharmaceuticals, Telephonics and Watson Pharmaceuticals. Guests also have easy access to New York City as well as Long Island's beaches and wineries.

A one-week stay in March at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale starts from $160 per night.
