Hilton Worldwide recently began construction of a new Home2Suites in South Carolina, reports the Charleston Post and Courier. Once construction has been completed, the facility will be a new option for travelers looking to book an extended stay hotel in North Charleston.
The new facility, which is part of Hilton's first new extended stay brand in more than 20 years, will be an all-suite hotel with four stories and 122 rooms. The source reports that the mid-tier property will begin welcoming guests either by the end of this year or in early 2012. The groundbreaking for the new hotel took place last week at a ceremony featuring Hilton executives and Charleston city officials.
One of the main distinguishing features of the upcoming Home2Suites will be "the Oasis," a 4,000-square-foot open lobby that provides community space where guests can mingle and talk. Highlights of "the Oasis" will reportedly include group and individual work areas, a 52-inch flat-screen TV and free continental breakfast.
According to the source, Home2Suites is also known for its "Inspired Table" breakfast offerings, which feature a 70-day rotating menu that saves guests from having to eat the same meal twice. Note, however, that Home2Suites kitchens will not include a built-in stovetop, as is the norm at extended-stay hotels. Portable induction burners are available on request.
