Chicago Offers Much to Extended-Stay Travelers

11 Jun 2010

With the sun shining down on the ivy-covered walls and the sight of players running on the greenest grass imaginable, there is something special about baseball games played at Chicago's Wrigley Field.

Built in 1914, Wrigley is the second-oldest park in the Majors and the home of the Chicago Cubs. Travelers in Chicago should make a point to take in one of the Cubs' patented day games to get a true feel for the city, and there is no better time to do it than when the St. Louis Cardinals come to town this July.

Baseball's best player, Albert Pujols, will lead the Cub's most bitter rival into Wrigley for a series that starts on Friday, July 24 and continues throughout the weekend.

If baseball isn't one's thing the Windy City has a lot of other exciting events to offer this July. One of the best, and tastiest, will be the 10th Annual Green City Market Chef's BBQ. This evening affair will take place at Lincoln Park on July 15 and offer attendees the chance to sample food from more than 80 different local chefs. The tickets for the event are all inclusive, and in addition to allowing people to sample a wide variety of culinary delights, they will let attendees try locally-made beer, wine and cocktails at the event.

Those who are a bit more culturally inclined may want to check out the Chicago Museum of History. On top of the more than 22 million artifacts detailing the history of the city, there will be a number of special exhibitions this July including one focusing on the history of Chicago's Chinatown.

In addition to being a great place to sight-see and experience culture, Chicago is an excellent place to conduct business, which is exemplified by the city winning such accolades as being named North America's "City of the Future" by the Financial Times publication Foreign Direct Investment Magazine.

With so many things to do it may make sense for both business and leisure travelers to book a suite at an extended stay hotel in Chicago.

A great place to stay in Chicago is Comfort Suites. This hotel offers some great amenities for those taking a long trip to the Windy City. In particular, the private laundry facilities in each suite give the hotel a home-like feel. Also, the hotel offers a full kitchen and two flat-screen televisions in most of its rooms. But perhaps the best thing about Comfort Suites is its location, which is within walking distance of both the financial district and the city's best tourist attractions. Rates for a week-long stay in July at Comfort Suites start at $229 per night.

Another excellent place for both business and leisure travelers to stay in Chicago is Premier Luxury Suites.

The president of Premier Luxury Suites, Ken Cohen, feels that his business combines "great service with a great product." In addition, Cohen describes the high ratings that the corporate housing provider has received from its competitors as the "ultimate compliment."

Guests at Premier Luxury Suites tend to be business travelers, with Cohen estimating that 70 percent of guests staying for business, compared with 30 percent for leisure. The average length of stay for a guest is 75 days, and the most popular features are the health club and swimming pool, according to Cohen.

Cohen believes that guests select Premier Luxury Suites because it offers a "superior product" and the fact that the suites are apartments as opposed to traditional hotel rooms is another reason why people choose to stay there.

In addition to all these fantastic features, the prices at Premier Luxury Suites are great, with rates for a month-long stay this summer starting at $89 per night.

With so many fun things to do and great places to stay, taking a long trip to Chicago for business or pleasure is an easy choice.ADNFCR-3068-ID-19833351-ADNFCR
