Whether traveling for leisure or for business, you'll appreciate Biz-stay.com's Utah Suite Hotel Reviews. Our anonymous reviewers have stayed at 9 hotels and resorts in Salt Lake City, Provo, Price, Moab, Cedar City, St. George & Kanab. (For a comprehensive state directory, see Biz-stay.com Utah Extended Stay.) In the reviews below, we provide unbiased ratings, room photos and rate information.

Salt Lake City

Homestead Studio Suites - Mid Valley was found on Biz-stay.com's Salt Lake City Suite Hotels page. It was reviewed in August 2005. Our studio suite with two double beds was booked online at a nightly rate of $59.99. Homestead is an extended stay hotel, so travelers receive very good discounts for stays of one week or more. Homestead Studio Suites met expectations for a budget suite hotel chain.
  • Decor: The room was very basic, including the decor. There were 2 beds in the room facing a TV that was on top of a dresser. There was a large mirrored closet with plenty of room for clothing.
Rating of 3 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Average. Rating of 3.
  • Comfort: The entrance to this suite was from the outside. We had a room on the upper level. There were no elevators, so we had to use the stairs. The bathroom's counter top/sink was large and allowed for plenty of room to spread out any toiletry items, curling irons, etc. The kitchen was nice. There was a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and a breakfast nook with a counter & 2 stools. Rating of 4.
  • Upkeep: The bathtub was plain and could have used some remodeling and repair. The tub had a tiled surround and the grout was dirty looking. Rating of 3.
  • Service: The staff was friendly and helpful. Rating of 5.
  • Breakfast: None
  • Other: We were not able to access the room's internet connection. (Despite extensive experience in IT & telecom!)

Provo

Hampton Inn & Suites - Orem (in a north suburb) was found on Biz-stay.com's Provo Suite Hotels page. It was reviewed in August 2005. Our one-bedroom suite with two queen beds and a sofabed was booked online at a nightly rate of $119 (mid-week). Hampton Inn & Suites Orem exceeded expectations for a mid-range suite hotel chain.
  • Decor: Gorgeous homey decor, beautiful wall hangings and wall paper. The only feature that was typical of a motel was the carpet. Very nice furniture. Rating of 5 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Excellent lighting. 3 lights in bedroom, 2 in bathroom. Nice bright lights in kitchen, living and eating area. Rating of 5.
  • Comfort: Excellent pillow-top beds and bedding. Good quality furniture and beds. Beds had attractive bed skirts. Rating of 5.
  • Upkeep: Very clean. Gorgeous landscaping. Rating of 5.
  • Service: Excellent service, very friendly, one of the best hotels we've reviewed. Rating of 5.
  • Breakfast: Eggs, sausage, biscuits, cereals, breads, juices. They kept it well stocked. Nice eating area, with a courtyard. Rating of 5.
  • Other: One of the nicest hotels we've surveyed. In a convenient area, close to food, shopping, main roads. Large size kitchen with full-size appliances and new kitchenware, bar stools and a table for eating. Gorgeous cupboards. We wished our stay was longer!

  • Decor: Typical motel decor, but above-average furniture. Nice eating area with big mirror in entry with good table underneath. Rating of 4 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Great lighting throughout, including at tables and beds. Rating of 5.
  • Comfort: Bathroom was quite small, door almost touched the toilet. Very nice big whirlpool bathtub. Kitchen area was small and not equipped with many utensils or cookware. Nice beds - firm, yet comfortable.
    Rating of 3.
  • Upkeep: Clean rooms. Hallways seemed a little run down, but not dirty. Rating of 3.
  • Service: Friendly waitress for breakfast and friendly at front desk. But not a very friendly or informative hostess. Rating of 3.
  • Breakfast: Charge for breakfast, but Kids Eat Free program offers good value. Good food, also had buffet along with menu items. Good variety. Rating of 4.
  • Other: Two large closets, a huge wall in between living/eating area and sleeping area, 2 king beds and sofa sleeper.

Moab

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Moab Utah> (near Arches National Park) was reviewed in August 2004. Our one-room suite with 2 queen beds and a sofabed was booked through Biz-stay.com's Moab page, at a nightly rate of $88. This was an advance payment discount - guaranteed to be the lowest rate available. Comfort Suites Moab had similar rooms available for $99. Standard rooms were available at Holiday Inn Express for an advance payment rate of $80. These rates are higher than one would find in the winter off-season. This particular Holiday Inn Express exceeded expectations for a mid-priced chain:

  • Decor: Southwestern theme. Everything was attractive, well-placed & nicely done. Good attention to detail. Rating of 5 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Desk lamp was nice & bright with a 2-way switch. Overall room lighting was soft, but bright enough. Rating of 5.
  • Comfort: The best beds yet - soft, with good support. Comfortable blankets. Extra pillows available. Comfortable sofa & chairs. Carpet was nice & soft. Rating of 5.
  • Upkeep: Very nice & clean. Pleasant smell. Rating of 5.
  • Service: Friendly. Rating of 4.
  • Breakfast: Waffles, french toast, bagels, donuts, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, orange & apple juice, milk. Nicely presented. What we ate was great. Dining area was nice & clean. Rating of 5.
  • Other: Desk had an outlet and high-speed internet connection. Kitchenette had sink, microwave & mini-refrigerator. 25" TV.

"Express Start" breakfast

Comfort Suites - Moab was found on Biz-stay.com's Moab Suite Hotels page. It was reviewed in August 2005. Our one-room suite with two queen beds was booked online at a nightly rate of $99 (high season). This was an internet special, guaranteed to be the lowest rate available for this hotel. Comfort Suites Moab met expectations for a moderate suite hotel chain.
  • Decor: Southwestern, slightly outdated (furniture did not really match the theme). Rating of 3 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: A little dim. One light was missing a bulb, and the bathroom was not very bright. Rating of 2.
  • Comfort: Beds were firm, but comfortable. Couch and chair were comfortable. Rating of 4.
  • Upkeep: Very clean. Rating of 4.
  • Service: Very friendly, extra towels available for the pool, very helpful with children at breakfast. But our room was on the second floor and they did not have an elevator - no one offered to help carry bags. Rating of 4.
  • Breakfast: Continental with make-your-own waffles, cereal, toast, bagels, fruit, etc. The dining room was a little crowded, with tables too close together. Rating of 3.
  • Other: Suite was a large hotel room with a small couch, chair, mini fridge and microwave. Onsite are an indoor pool, fitness room and coin-operated laundry.

Cedar City
These 2 hotels can be found on Biz-stay.com's Cedar City Suite Hotels page. To provide a more complete assessment of accommodations in Cedar City, our team reserved 3 rooms/suites at each hotel in August 2005. The Best Western El Rey Inn & Suites was lacking in terms of upkeep, but would be an excellent choice if a comfortable bed is high on your priority list. On the other hand, the Crystal Inn has rather cramped rooms, but would serve well if a good breakfast buffet is important.

Best Western El Rey Inn & Suites is in the center of town. Our 1-room suites each had one king bed and a double sofabed, or two queen beds. All suites were booked at a rate of $79 (high season). This Best Western met expectations for a moderate hotel chain.
  • Decor: Bedding was typical of a hotel room. Only furniture was a dresser, bedside tables and eating table. Rating of 3 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Excellent lighting. Suites were one large room and had many lamps. Rating of 5.
  • Comfort: Beds were very comfortable. They felt like new and the mattress sets were of excellent quality. Rating of 4.
  • Upkeep: Very clean room. Even though it was an older hotel it did not have the run down look. There were a couple maintenance issues, though: 1) one mini fridge was missing a control knob, so it was impossible to adjust temperature; 2) one bathroom heat lamp's timer did not work, so it remained on all night. Rating of 3.
  • Service: Very helpful as we arrived very late, very pleasant at front desk and gave great directions to area shopping. Rating of 4.
  • Breakfast: Continental with waffles, fruit, cereal, breads, drinks. Small eating area. Ran out of food and had to ask for more. Rating of 2.
  • Other: Suite had a mini fridge and microwave. Onsite were an outdoor pool and coin-operated laundry.

One-Room Suite

Bathroom

Crystal Inn - Cedar City is near I-15. Our rooms had one king bed and a double sofabed, or two queen beds. All were booked at a rate of $79 (high season). This Crystal Inn met expectations for a moderate hotel chain, though Crystal Inns elsewhere offer superior quality.
  • Decor: Typical of motels, nice big mirror in room. Rating of 3 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: Only 3 small lights on wall - two above beds and one above desk. Another small light by door. Bathrooms were very bright, though. Rating of 3.
  • Comfort: Beds were adequate, but a little on the hard side. Bathrooms were very small. In one room, the bathroom door had a notch cut out so it could open past the toilet. Despite proximity to the freeway, there was not much noise. Rating of 3.
  • Upkeep: Very clean hotel, very nice exterior and lobby. Rating of 4.
  • Service: Very helpful with getting around the area. Pleasant staff greeted us when passing in the hall. However, when making our reservations we were told that the rooms with 2 queen beds also had a sofabed. This turned out to not be true.
    Rating of 4.
  • Breakfast: Very nice area with abundant seating. Lots of choices of food, waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, muffins, juices. One of the best breakfasts and eating areas we've seen. Rating of 5.
  • Other: Rooms were just standard hotel rooms, with a mini fridge and microwave. Onsite are a restaurant, computers with free high-speed Internet, outdoor pool, indoor whirlpool, fitness room.

Saint George

Las Palmas Condos at the Green Valley Resort can be found on Biz-stay.com's St. George Suite Hotels page. It was reviewed in August 2005. Our 3-bedroom/2-bath "Luxury" condo was booked online at a nightly rate of $223 (weekend). It was about 1700 square feet, and built in 2002. Our condo met expectations for an upscale vacation rental.
  • Decor: Southwestern. Rating of 5 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: A little dim, but adequate for typical vacation activities.
    Rating of 4.
  • Comfort: The king and queen beds in two of the bedrooms were excellent. Living room sofa was also very comfortable. The trundle bed in the third bedroom was adequate. Rating of 5.
  • Upkeep: Very clean, with everything in proper working condition. But one light bulb was burned out. Rating of 4.
  • Service: "Service" involved no human contact. Nonetheless, check-in & out were painless. Rating of 3.
  • Breakfast: None.
  • Other: Condo was ground floor, but it was low-season in St. George so there was no one above us. The unit contained a full kitchen including cookware and dinnerware. The patio had a barbeque. A computer was available, with Internet access. There was also a laundry room with washer, dryer & detergent. Resort facilities were excellent, with a lovely pool right out our patio, and an indoor fitness complex within walking distance.

Kanab

Aikens Lodge can be found on Biz-stay.com's Kanab Suite Hotels page. It was reviewed in August 2005. Our 3-bedroom "family unit" was booked online at a nightly rate of $89 (high season). Our suite met expectations for budget accommodations.
  • Decor: Outdated, faded/patched bedspreads, mis-matched furniture, pink and turquoise bathroom.
Rating of 1 (on scale of 1 to 5).
  • Lighting: very dim. Rating of 2.
  • Comfort: Hard beds - children slept fine, but not adults. Rating of 2.
  • Upkeep: Rooms were clean, but carpet was a little worn, and there was a crack in one window. Rating of 3.
  • Service: Friendly but a little slow. Rating of 4.
  • Breakfast: None - coffee available in the office.
  • Other: Mini fridge in room. Only one bathroom - inadequate for most families requiring 3 bedrooms. Onsite: coin-operated laundry, outdoor pool, internet access in the office. Great sightseeing nearby.
