In the reviews below, we provide unbiased ratings, room photos and rate information.   Hawthorn Suites (since renamed Desert Rose Resort) of Las Vegas Nevada was reviewed in August 2004. Our one-bedroom suite was booked through Biz-stay.com's Las Vegas page, at a nightly rate of $68.99 (midweek). This was an advance payment discount - guaranteed to be the lowest rate available. This hotel was well-placed (2 blocks from the casinos on the Strip), and performed adequately considering the low price we paid: Decor: Looked fine, but was outdated. Rating of 4 (on scale of 1 to 5). Lighting: Plenty of light. Rating of 5. Comfort: Beds and sofa were fair. Rating of 4. Upkeep: Chipped/old paint in hallways. First we were given a room that was not made up at all. We were moved to a new room. Bathroom tile needed new grout, and towel rod broke off. Table lamp was covered with dust. Rating of 2. Service: Could have been better. Not very apologetic about first room assignment. Rating of 3. Breakfast: Hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast. Oranges & bananas. Unfortunately, we were required to show our room key for each new plate. We had actually been given a key with "Embassy Suites" printed on it, so the attendant gave us trouble. Rating of 5. Other: Our suite had separate bedroom and living areas. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, stove, oven & sink Living Room Dining Area and Kitchen Bedroom
