Crowne Plaza - Union Square is in downtown San Francisco, and can be found on Biz-stay.com's
San Francisco Suite Hotels page.
It was reviewed in July 2006. Our large room with two queen beds and a sofa bed
was booked online at a nightly rate of $168 (weekend). This was an advance payment discount - guaranteed to be the lowest rate available.
This hotel met expectations for an upscale full-service hotel chain.
- Decor: Nice couch, table and chairs. Beds had nice white comforters and bedding. Coffered ceiling above bed area. Wallpaper and curtains
were attractive.
Rating of 5 (on scale of 1 to 5).
- Lighting: Plenty of light, with ceiling lights and 6 lamps. Alcove near the closet was also well lit.Rating of 5.
- Comfort: Comfortable feeling room. Beds had plenty of pillows, but were a bit too firm for our tastes. Rating of 4.
- Upkeep: Very clean rooms. Front desk and entrance were very elegant and clean. Rating of 5.
- Service: Very friendly at front desk. Valet parking attendants were very friendly and helpful. Rating of 4.
- Breakfast: None
- Other: Room was on the 25th floor. Room had a bay area where curtains opened to a gorgeous view. Very spacious room. Play station was
available for additional fee. The only parking option was the hotel's valet service, at $40/day.

Hallmark Suites (currently Hotel Sierra) of Rancho Cordova (northeast suburb of
Sacramento California) was reviewed in July 2006. Our bi-level Residential Loft Suite
was booked through
Biz-stay.com's Sacramento page, at a nightly rate of
$139 (midweek). The suite had a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a king bed, a double murphy bed and a double sofabed. Hallmark Suites is an extended stay hotel,
so travelers get the best value for longer stays. Hallmark Suites met expectations for a mid-priced chain.
- Decor: Typical hotel decor - not very homey. Room was a somewhat outdated.
Rating of 3 (on scale of 1 to 5).
- Lighting: Excellent - many lamps in addition to ceiling lighting. Rating of 5.
- Comfort: Murphy bed and sofa sleeper were not very comfortable. King bed was a little firm, but still comfortable. Suite had plenty of
room for a family of 6.
Rating of 3.
- Upkeep: Wallpaper was starting to peel and corners were a little dirty. But outside grounds were beautiful
with excellent landscaping. Rating of 3.
- Service: Excellent service - very helpful and friendly. All staff members we saw were wonderful. Each time we passed by the front desk, someone would
greet us and ask how we were doing. Rating of 5.
- Breakfast: Very good breakfast. It was cooked to order. It included pancakes, french toast, eggs, meats, cereals and breads (but no fruit).
Rating of 4
- Other: Amenities were wonderful. Gorgeous courtyard with pool and hot tub; computer with free high-speed internet; small store with personal items,
food, snacks and drinks. We were very happy with the public amenities, but disappointed with the room.
